Use Cellphone as an Image Scanner--Use online Image Editor

The image below was created by drawing the image in an outline, similar to that of a coloring book. In fact, if you are looking for image ideas--GOOGLE--coloring book images of _________.

Next, use your cellphone to take a picture of the image. This is what was done below. Notice some of the added digital "shadow" around the image. The best way to do this is to use a "Scanner App". I use for Android "Fast Scan". This App will take the picture then convert it to black and white. Then you can save or email the image right from the App. Save it as a JPG -- but, this App is useful in converting documents from printed paper to PDF files as well.

Once, the image is emailed to yourself, open the email and download the image to "DRIVE" (use the little triangle icon). Now you can go to www.pixlr.com -- this is a very close copy to Adobe's Photoshop, that you can use online. Scroll down and select "Editor". Watch the above video for instruction on how to use "Pixlr" or just figure it out--it's not that hard.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to resize your image before starting. Leave the image constrains checked and change one dimension to 600 or so.

Save your image to "DRIVE", and insert it into a post in your BLOG, just like you would any other picture (not embed).

PS: you can borrow a SHARPIE from me, but I must get it back--fr best results be sure to connect your lines, so your color does not bled through to the other areas of your art work.

Here is the image that we just created:

Scan Example

Here is an example of using this technique with a combination of hand-drawn art with a pen, and then using a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for coloring and detailing the image.

TAX Time

History of the US Income Tax

Compiled by Ellen Terrell
Business Reference Services

Original Form 1040 (1913)
The origin of the income tax on individuals is generally cited as the passage of the 16th Amendment, passed by Congress on July 2, 1909, and ratified February 3, 1913; however, its history actually goes back even further. During the Civil War Congress passed the Revenue Act of 1861 which included a tax on personal incomes to help pay war expenses. The tax was repealed ten years later. However, in 1894 Congress enacted a flat rate Federal income tax, which was ruled unconstitutional the following year by the U.S. Supreme Court because it was a direct tax not apportioned according to the population of each state. The 16th amendment, ratified in 1913, removed this objection by allowing the Federal government to tax the income of individuals without regard to the population of each State.

Further reorganization came in the 1950s, replacing the patronage system with career employees. The IRS Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998 prompted the most comprehensive reorganization and modernization of IRS in nearly half a century and established a Taxpayer Advocate Service as an independent voice inside the agency on behalf of the taxpayer.

April 15th has not always been the filing deadline. March 1st was the date specified by Congress in 1913, after the passage of the 16th amendment. In 1918 Congress pushed the date forward to March 15th, where it remained until the tax overhaul of 1954, when the date was again moved ahead to April 15th.

Can you GUESS what you get to do NEXT?

That's right......

......Your TAXES

Here's your W-2:

Now get started: First off, this is so EZ. You won't believe how EZ this assignment is....totally EZ, so EZ you could get it done in 10 min. and 40 sec. You might say it is so EZ and so 10:40 fast; that you could call it....
Oh, I don't know--maybe call it 1040EZ. Yeah, that's what I would call it.

Check out the site IRS.GOV -- since it is the IRS that collects TAXES for the Government, I would probably go there for some assistance and for some directions. Think you can find this and complete your taxes on your own? -- I think you can.

If NOT.... we'll go over it. See you on Monday!

Monday, April 4, 2016

Good morning!

Can you believe that you are just a few weeks from leaving Middle School behind and entering into High School? Time to finish STRONG! Not just in this class but in all of your classes.

Be sure to use the time that you have "WISELY". If, you finish work in my class, you know have the perfect opportunity to use the tools that you have learned as well as the computer for this class to really demonstrate you knowledge and understanding of the topics in your other classes as well.

So, where am I?

Saturday afternoon we got word that my wife's Father had died. This was a complete shock. He had just been to visit with us in Idaho, and complained of nothing, and seemed fine. He got up Saturday, went to his office in his house, and passed away in his chair at his desk.

I will be gone this week, as I am helping with settling some of the financial issues, and business. As well as, I will officiate the funeral. Here's one thing I get to take care of--Richard passed away on Saturday--on Friday, he had just bought a 2016 Volvo SUV. So, I get to go to the dealership and ask them to take it back. This whole experience sounds like a great PERSONAL FINANCE lesson!

Please take care to be well behaved this week, as you adjust to several subs, and some teachers that will be filling in. Check the BLOG for updates and for more lessons. Be sure to be working on the lessons, and other work if my classwork is completed. Remember to provide detail to the content of your answers, demonstrate that you understand what is being learned. For instance, the summary paragraphs should be several sentences, I'm seeing some that are just the title reworded differently.

Have a good day, and a good week and be good too.

Mr.Wink.
